The london skyline print is hand-spray-painted with textile spraypaint, to be washed at 30 degrees.
After the success of her first collection, 'She's Lost Control', Maaike Mekking's S/S 08 show has moved on from the slick, bleak palettes of winter to a softer, more playful aesthetic.

Inspired by childhood dressing-up boxes and the striking paintings of Ray Ceasar, the collection has a sophisticated feline quality. silks and satins are contrasted with soft jerseys and crisp white shirtings in a distinctive combination of elegance and luxury, while hints of the circus provide a theatrical undercurrent that remains entirely wearable.

Lashings of silk ensure that proportions are never what they seem, and simple empire line gowns cascade in volumes never before imagined. The whimsical feel is sharpened by the sleek and slender silhouettes that run throughout the collection, maintaining an edge that keeps Maaike at the forefront of East London's young fashion scene.
